Artist Jessi Cerutti popped by the studio to instruct us in the art of plastic bag fusing. The technique is prefect for wallets, journal covers, and jewelery. Yep, the material has pretty much endless crafting potential.
Jessi is known in local crafting circles for co-founding the Rock N Roll craft show which is coming upon its 7th year in November. She's an MFA graduate of SIUE and is currently a resident artist at the Luminary Center for the Arts.
HOW TO MAKE FUSED PLASTIC BAG "FABRIC"
Materials: plastic bags, scissors, freezer paper, and an iron.
The Process:
1. Gather HEAPS of plastic bags. The more decorative the better.
2. Cut them into two-piece sheets and pile about 6 sheets on a table
3. Put freezer paper in-between the plastic sheets and your iron (VERY IMPORTANT)
4. Heat it up!
5. Let the plastic cool then cut into a project
